Capsule Geology

The Cup occurrence is located on a ridge separating Lockwood and French creeks, approximately 4 kilometres northwest of Rowbotham Lake.

The area is underlain by hornblende diorite of the Early to Middle Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite in contact with a siliceous volcanic rock of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group).

The diorite is sparsely and irregularly mineralized with chalcopyrite and locally pyrite and pyrrhotite. The chalcopyrite forms discrete blebs or clots and occasionally is found as a discontinuous vein or veinlet.

In 1989, the area was explored as the Silver and Gulch claims by B & H Leasco Limited. In 2011, New Shoshoni Ventures completed a prospecting reconnaissance program on the area, as the Arrow Smith property.
